Akriti Kakar talks about the song Iski Uski from 2 States
MUMBAI: After lending her voice to songs like 'Cham Se' from the movie 'Dua' and 'Abhi Abhi' from 'Jisma 2', Akriti Kakar is back with a new song 'Iski Uski' for the film '2 States'. The track also features 'Kukkad' singer Shahid Mallya.
Talking to Radioandmusic.com about the song, Kakkar said that she had already read the book '2 States' and was aware of what was expected from her. "Also I have worked with Shankar Ehasan Loy for a long time now, for various films like 'Johnny Gaddar' and 'We Are Family'. So I know what was expected from me. It was Shankarji who offerd me the chance to sing the song. It was not even like, come and try your hand. He just said that there is this song and it is pretty upbeat, so I know you can sing it," said the 27 year old singer. She added that the recording was finished in half an hour and they did not even have to record the scratch for it either.
Describing the song, she says, "It is based on a girl and boy who have decided to get married. But they are trying to figure out whether the wedding should follow the Punjabi rituals, or that of the South Indian.
Kakar loves performing for her gigs as she gets the chance to visit new places. Apart from that, she also tries her hands at cooking. But the singer adds that the best is yet to come for her. "I have worked with Pritamda, Jeet Ganguly, Himesh Reshammiya, but there are so many people whom I would still like to work with," she said signing off.
