Hard Rock Rising 2012 Indian leg to kick-start on 1 March

MUMBAI: Giving budding rockstars a chance to showcase their talent, ‘Hard Rock Rising 2012’- a global battle of bands will kick-start from 1 March in India. HRC has selected bands from five cities namely Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad and  Bangalore to compete for the qualifying events. Shortlisted bands will be judged by a panel of local industry experts and the other participating bands’ representatives. A final round featuring each of the preliminary winners will be held on Thursday, 22 March 2012.

Guns N' Roses announce UK tour

MUMBAI: Following their induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, legendary rock band Guns N' Roses have announced a UK tour across seven cities in May 2012. Commencing from 19 May in Nottingham the band will perform in Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester, culminating the tour on 31 May at London’s O2 Arena. Pentagram sweeps Jack Daniel's Annual Rock Awards 2011

MUMBAI: Honouring the excellence of India’s growing rock scene, the Jack Daniel’s Annual Rock Awards 2011 announced the winners of their seventh edition at a star studded ceremony on 24 February at Mehboob Studios in Bandra. Vishal Dadlani fronted rock band Pentagram bagged six honours including Best Album (Bloodywood), Best Song (Tomorrow’s Decided), Best Male Vocalist (Vishal Dadlani), Best Guitarist (Randolph Correia)and Best Video (Lovedrug Climbdown). The group was also awarded a prestigious Band of the Year honor along with cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
