President Obama jams with Mick Jagger and B.B. King

MUMBAI: Honouring the blues music in conjunction with Black History Month, US president Barack Obama hosted a series of jazz, Latin and country music performances at White House on Tuesday 21 February. The concert featured noted blues legends including Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, B.B. King and Buddy Guy. President Obama also showed off his musical skills by trading lyrics with the legendary B.B.King on the blues classic 'Sweet Home Chicago' which was dedicated to Obama's adopted hometown.

WIPO study on economic impact of copyright industries sans India

MUMBAI: India is overlooked in a study conducted on the economic impact of the copyright industries by The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The study  entitled 'Copyright + Creativity = Jobs and Economic Growth' is based on data retrieved from 30 countries across the globe. Deep Emotions Publishing managing director Achille Forler said, "India's creative industries were left out in this Report highlights the pressing need to have reliable data on their economic contribution to the country's GDP. Such data, in turn, will help evolve supporting policies."

Ali Zafar to perform live in Mumbai

MUMBAI: After composing, directing and singing for bollywood films, the multi-talented actor Ali Zafar will perform at a live concert on 24 February in Bandra, Mumbai. Ali Zafar tweeted, “I am performing live at the Bandra Fort Mumbai on the 24th, 6 pm onward. Will sing as many songs as you want me to.” The actor sang ‘Madhubala’ from ‘Mere Brother ki Dulhan’ which topped the charts last year.
