Ricky Kej's 'Winds of Samsara' nominated for Grammy award

MUMBAI: Ricky Kej, whose recent album 'Winds of Samsara' debuted at number one on Billboards New Age Album chart, has been nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Age Album of the Year category. 'Winds of Samsara', which was released earlier this year under Times Music, is a collaboration between the composer/ music producer and Wouter Kellerman, a South African flutist.

Speaking on his nomination, Kej stated, "It is especially a proud moment for me to be nominated for a Grammy and to go down in history with the likes of Peter Gabriel, Enya and Enigma. It is exhilarating to represent my country in such a respectable forum. This album is a dream come true for me, as it has challenged us as artistes to push borders and to have the one common thread truly be the universal language of music. A recognition such as this humbles me and motivates me to continue spreading the message of peace and harmony through my music".

With this nomination, Kej becomes the first Indian to be nominated for a Grammy award in this particular category.

On the association of the album and record label, Times Music COO Mandar Thakur said, "Times Music has always been committed to great music and talented artistes. We have believed right from the start that 'Winds Of Samsara' is a very special album and that Ricky is a special and driven artiste. We are as excited as Ricky is about the nomination and wish him all the best for the Grammys."

In addition to its number one position on Billboard's New Age chart, the album topped ZMR World Radio Charts. It was recorded over two years and features more than 120 musicians from five continents.
