'Watch Out' is Komorebi's next single off her new, conceptual Album 'The Fall'

MUMBAI :  Indian electronica producer and singer Komorebi continues the story of Kiane, the central character of her new, conceptual album The Fall  in her new single and video, ‘Watch Out’.

Regarded as one of the most exciting musicians in India, Komorebi’s productions are often whimsical and dreamy downtempo electronica, but with The Fall, Komorebi has built an entirely new world within, and with, her music.

The story of Kiane is captured via the music, music videos and a 30-page comic book that will release alongside the album in September.

An avid gamer and anime lover, Komorebi’s music derives much from her inspirations and shares characteristics such as fantastical worlds, whimsical themes, emotionally charged characters and world building.

‘Watch Out’ showcases Komorebi’s strengths as a songwriter and as a collaborative musician – the single features celebrated Indian bassist Warren Mendonsa, indie folk pop band Easy Wanderlings and guitarist Dhruv Vishwanath – and emotionally charged and vulnerable soundscapes are a dreamy, serene musical cocoon for Komorebi’s words.

The video, shot amidst the stark landscapes of Leh in sub-zero temperatures, by filmmaker Rahul Dutta (of Starving Artist Films) also features drag queen Glorious Luna who plays ‘Luna Tick’. The two of them engage in a dance battle and act together for the first time in this music video.

The song is the second chapter in the story of Kiane where she meets Luna-Tick, the antagonist of the story, while exploring earth. “Luna presents themself as a friend first, which is tempting for Kiane to fall for on a planet where she knows no-one and in a way with the lyrics, I’m warning Kiane about letting go of toxic attachment,” Komorebi explains. Luna-Tick is actually based on Glorious Luna, who has also styled Komorebi in the video.

The Fall is the coming-of-age story of Kiane – who fans first met in Soliloquy in 2017 – and also highlights Komorebi aka Tarana Marwah’s evolution from an exciting young talent to a consummate storyteller with fantastical renditions of her music.

The multimedia project brings two sides of Komorebi to the fore, Tarana the gamer and Tarana the musician, and The Fall is where the two worlds collide.

‘Watch Out’ is available on all streaming platforms, and you can learn more about the single and the multimedia project here.
