MUMBAI: Singer Akriti Kakar, who has an enviable discography in Bollywood, has made sure that she doesn’t limit herself to just film music.

Keeping up with the idea, Akriti has come out with her own version of the evergreen song, Dumadum Mast Kalandar that has released on her channel today.

Kakar has been simultaneously doling out her own renditions of some very popular tracks lately and what makes it even more exciting is that she chooses tracks based on what her fans want to listen.

Elaborating on the choice of song, Akriti explains, "For me, it’s been a song that my concerts or any home jams are incomplete without. Attempting it with a fresh take was very challenging as well as adventurous since it’s a song that’s been sung by so many people. We have given it our best shot to make it our own and give it a fresh and new take.”

She further adds that the song has stood the test of time and never fails to lift listeners, “Dumadum Mast Kalandar is hands down the maximum requested song by audiences across the globe each time. I perform on stage and there would hardly be a concert where I don’t sing it and none of us get bored with it."

“It induces life into the dullest rooms and lifts spirits,” she concludes.
