Vh1 wins multi-year telecast rights for Grammy Awards

MUMBAI: In a multi-year deal, Vh1 has bagged the rights for the music industry's biggest event The Grammy Awards which will air on 14 February at 6.30 am with a repeat at 9 pm. Earlier the event was telecast on Star World. Vh1 will be running content around the event from January to March. The show recognises various genres of music including pop, rock and classical.

NBC teams up with producers for 'Voice of America'

MUMBAI: US broadcaster NBC is teaming up with reality show producers John de Mol Big Brother, Fear Factor and Mark Burnett Survivor, The Apprentice and unscripted TV producers Warner Horizon Televisio to present a singing competition show, The Voice of America. The show premieres on NBC next year. The Voice of America is modeled after the Dutch version of the show. The television audience will also have a say in determining the competition's finalists, as they vie for the grand prize of a recording contract.

BREIN, MPAA shut down 29 file sharing sites

MUMBAI: In cooperation with the Motion Picture Association of America, Dutch anti-piracy organization BREIN shut down 29 BitTorrent and Usenet indexing sites in the US that were targeting users in the Netherlands with links to sites that illegally offer movies, TV shows, music, games, books and digital content.

AR Rahman gets nominated for Golden Globe Award

MUMBAI: Music Maestro AR Rahman has been nominated for the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which were announced last evening. He is nominated in the Best Music category for Danny Boyle's 127 Hours. 127 Hours also bagged nominations for Best Actor (Drama) and Best Screenplay. After the success of Slumdog Millionaire, Boyle had once again teamed up with Fox Searchlight Pictures, producer Christian Colson, writer Simon Beaufoy and Rahman for the action drama starring James Franco.
