Radio One's collection drive for underprivileged kids

* In partnership with NGO Smile.

* BPCL offering collection-point support across 40 outlets in Mumbai

MUMBAI: This festive Christmas season, 94.3 Radio One Mumbai plans to light up the lives of the less fortunate through its latest initiative, the Radio One Christmas Santa -- a collection drive for underprivileged children.

With the help of its listeners, the station will work to put together a memorable Christmas for the children at Smile Foundation, an NGO that works towards the development of underprivileged kids across India

Radio One has sought the help of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), which will serve as collection points for this initiative from December 14th to 24th. People who wish to contribute in terms of clothes, books, stationery or toys could visit any of 40 select Bharat Petroleum outlets across Mumbai. To locate the Bharat Petroleum outlets closest to the listeners all they have to do is SMS Santa <space> <their Area Name> to 53650. Popular MJs from 94.3 Radio One would also be seen at these centers, urging people to join the drive

Says Kiran D'cruz, Station Head, Mumbai, This is simply an effort to spread cheer and happiness this Christmas. Keeping the basic needs of children in mind we have restricted the collection to clothes, books, toys and stationery and won't be accepting any cash or cheque collections to make sure the children utilize what we are able to pull together through this drive. We really hope that we can, in a small way, make a difference to the lives of these kids...
