Recommendations don't work in the industry anymore: Teesha Nigam

MUMBAI: Teesha Nigam who will be debuting in the single space with Times Musics’ ‘Katna Nai’ feels that being a star sister or daughter does not change much. One gets work when they are destined to. Thus, being Sonu Nigam’s sister does not change much for her as a singer except for the fact, that the industry recognises her.

"Recommendations don't work in the industry anymore. Moreover, for me anything that comes naturally is the right thing,” states 'Singh Saab The Great' singer.

She further says that the only thing that she has got from her family is guidance and it has helped. "I grew up in a musical background. Thus, there were a lot of things that I was taught about music."

Teesha has been lucky to have a family that is always willing to help and guide. In fact, it was Sonu who introduced her to Sajjad Ali song ‘Katna Hai’. “I fell in love with the song the very minute I heard it. It also has a very deep meaning and a music that stand apart. Thus, I went on to interpret the song in my way,” says the singer.

'Katna Hai' is a dark haunting melody with a romantic feel to it. This single also marks the acting debut of this young and energetic singer, alongside Veer Aryan (Hanif Hilal).

Talking about her acting Debut in the video, Teesha reveals that it was her father (Agam Kumar Nigam) who said she must act in the video and was glad to see the results. Teesha hasn't given acting a serious thought as yet but wouldn't mind if something interesting comes by.

Though the song is not a usual number that one comes across Teesha is pretty confident about it being accepted by the masses. “It’s a Punjabi song and everyone connects with Punjabi numbers. In fact, I have modernised the song track to bring a more urban feel to it. Thus, I am sure it will connect,” explains the songstress.

Furthermore, though the singer made her single debut with an unusual number she is looking at tapping the cool tracks space next. “My second and third songs will be fun numbers and these too will be independent projects."

Teesha who also happens to be a writer-composer has written one of her upcoming songs while the other is composed by here. These songs too in most probability will be distributed by Times Music.

Lastly, talking about Bollywood Teesha avers, "I believe in destiny. So, when things have to happen they will. But, one does not have to depend on Bollywood anymore with so many platforms available to showcase talent. However, Bollywood definitely is a feather in the cap."
