Dogri Music album 'Tundey Leyi' released in musical programme in Jammu

NEW DELHI: ‘Tundey Leyi’ a music album in Dogri language, was released at a function held in Jammu over the weekend.

Five songs from the album were presented live in the programme by Gursharan Kour, Apoorva Jamwal, Rahul Kumar and Sham Sajan. A ‘Thumri’ in Dogri language, which is a part of the album, was presented by Sham Sajan in the programme.

Renowned Dogri poetess Usha Kiran ‘Kiran’ who has written the lyrics, shared her experiences with the audience and recited her poetry during the programme organised by the Indian Cultural Forum at K L Saigal Hall.

The album contains 10 Dogri Songs that have been produced by Magotra Nishesh, with music arranged by Kuldeep Saproo under the music direction of pioneer Music Director Sham Sajan.

Gursharan Kour, Apoorva Jamwal, Rahul Kumar, Sham Manyal, Karan Dev Singh, Rabjot Singh and Sham Sajan have lent their voices to the album. Kuldeep Saproo (Synth), Mayank Raina (Sitar/Flute), Karan Malhotra (Tabla), Sanjay Pashi (Guitar/Mandolin), and Marvin Sotra (Dholak) accompanied the artistes.

The Ragas used in the musical compositions are Bhopali, Todi, Pahari, Shudh Kalyan, Bhinnshada, Khammaj, Charukeshi and Shobhawari.

Dr. Lalit Magotra, Chief Patron of the Forum, highlighted the activities of the Forum and emphasised that the organisation is committed to organise such programmes at least once every month. He asked the people to come forward for the upliftment of music and literature.

S. Pritpal Singh ‘Betab’, IAS, presided over the function and Senior Jammu and Kashmir High Court advocate D.C Raina was the chief guest. Ms Sureshta Khajuria MD/Principal Shangrilla Public School was the special guest and Dogri Sanstha President Joginder Chhatarpal was Guest of Honour.Ravinder Kaul anchored the programme.
