New Michael Jackson album 'Xscape' to be released this May

MUMBAI: A new Michael Jackson album will be released this May, it has been revealed. The late singer's estate, in collaboration with Epic Records, announced that the record titled 'Xscape' will be released on 13 May. Reports state that it will include eight never before heard tracks that have been "contemporised" by lead producer Timbaland along with other popular music producers including Rodney Jerkins, John McClain, Jerome 'Jroc' Harmon and Stargate.

In a statement released, the project's executive producer and label head L.A Reid, who took charge of curating the project said, "Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world."

"Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honoured to present this music to the world," he added.

Much like his previous albums, 'Xscape' will follow the King of Pop's tradition of naming it after one of the tracks on the album. The lead single has been written and produced by Jackson and Jerkins, with the latter behind the "contemporising" of the track as well. According to reports, the track was originally recorded for his album 'Invincible' which was released in 2001.

'Xscape' will serve as a follow up to the 'Billie Jean' singer's 2010 posthumous album 'Michael', which placed at number three and four in the U.S and U.K respectively. The new album will be available for pre-order from 1 April worldwide.
