Janelle Monae and Bruno Mars to feature on 'Rio 2' soundtrack

MUMBAI: American R&B singer Janelle Monae will not only be featured as one of the voice on upcoming movie 'Rio 2', but will also be among others on the film's soundtrack. The 'Tightrope' singer will offer her voice to a veterinarian character in the film. The animated movie, which is a sequel to 2011's 'Rio' will also see 'Locked out of Heaven' singer Bruno Mars on the soundtrack.

The revelation regarding the soundtrack came along with the release of Monae's track 'What is Love', which will be included in the animated movie's album. Currently, the track can be downloaded from several digital retailers, including iTunes. It has also been made available on music streaming service Spotify.

Like Monae, Mars will also be featured on the 'Rio 2' soundtrack with a track titled 'Welcome Back' and will also play a small part in the movie. According to reports, the 28 year old singer/ songwriter will voice the character 'Roberto', who is main character – Jewel's childhood friend.

In addition to Mars and Monae, several other musicians including Phillip Lawrence and rapper B.o.B. will offer contributions for 'Rio 2: Music from the Motion Picture'. The soundtrack will be released on 25 March, which will be just a few weeks prior to the release of the movie which will happen on 11 April 2014.
