MTV partners Fever FM for Unplugged Season 2

MUMBAI: In its zest to expand the reach, MTV has partnered with Fever FM and is promoting Unplugged season 2 on radio.  The station will air the Unplugged series on every Saturday at 8 pm. The station will feature unplugged songs by the show’s artistes like AR Rahman, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Lucky Ali, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kailasa and Ash King. Apart from tracks, the station will also air music stalwarts talk on their performance at the concert and behind the scenes.

Global online ad revenue to touch $143 bn by 2017: report

MUMBAI: With the online market gaining traction in various markets across the world, the global online advertisement revenue is expected to reach around $143 bn by 2017, according to a report ‘Online Advertising Forecasts’ by Digital TV Research. While the ad revenue graph is set to surge upwards, the report states that the revenue will be more than double of the $66 bn recorded in 2010. The company has also predicted the internet ad expenditures to reach a total of $92 bn in 2012.

Tewari promises promotions to Prasar Bharati employees; favours self-regulation

NEW DELHI: Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Manish Tewari has assured Prasar Bharati employees of early redressal of their grievances including long-pending promotions. During his first visit to All India Radio, Doordarshan and the Prasar Bharati headquarters after becoming the Minister on Wednesday, Tewari was assured by Chief Executive Officer Jawhar Sircar that the recruitment rules for most cadres were ready and promotions would be granted shortly.

Will.i.am, Britney Spears collaborate for 'Scream & Shout'

MUMBAI: Rapper producer will.i.am new single ‘Scream & Shout’ with pop star Britney Spear will premier on US radio on 19 November. Three days later, the music video of the song will debut on ‘The X Factor’ show that features Spears as one of the judges. The launch will be followed by making the single available on the digital platform.

2G spectrum auction flops; less than Rs 100 bn bids received

NEW DELHI: Unlike the enthusiasm seen during the auctions of 3G a couple of years earlier, the auction of telecom spectrum for 2G turned into a mere whimper with the government getting just over Rs 94.07 billion as against an expected Rs 280 bn. In comparison, the 35-day bidding for the 3G spectrum in 2010 had got Rs 677.19 bn. The figure also of Rs 94.0764 bn was also contrary to the high valuation estimated by the CAG in its damning report of the government two years ago. Overall, the government had budgeted Rs 400 bn as revenue from spectrum sale this fiscal.

AIR FM channels undergo changes to increase listenership

NEW DELHI: Both the FM Radio channels of All India Radio – FM Gold and FM Rainbow – have been given a completely new face this month with several new programmes and other changes. These changes came into effect from 12 November, which is observed as the Public Service Broadcasting Day in India to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s maiden and only visit to AIR studio. In a broadcast on 12 November 1947, Gandhi had addressed refugees from Pakistan stationed at the camp at Kurukshetra.

Psy and Madonna perform æGangnam StyleÆ

MUMBAI: Korean pop star Psy joined pop icon Madonna at her concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden for a performance on global hit ‘Gangnam Style’. They danced to his pop culture anthem and also her jam ‘Music’. Madonna said she was a big fan of the rapper and loved his bright red suit, and that Psy flew "all the way from Frankfurt, Germany". Psy added that he's had a lot of experiences in the last few months and that performing with Madonna topped his list.

Selena Gomez to release album next year

MUMBAI: A new album from Latin star Selena Gomez may be expected in March 2013. Gomez had recently said that she'd like to branch out musically, and to eventually collaborate with her BFF Taylor Swift, and also with the band ‘fun’. "I want to go for producers that probably wouldn't want me to do their songs. I just want to knock on their door. I also want to work with fun. I want to work with just different styles of music," she said. "So I just want to do different things for this album. By the time it comes out, I'll almost be 21, so I want it to be older."
