MUMBAI: As many as 63 songs from eligible feature-length motion pictures are contending for nominations in the original song category at the 82nd Academy Awards. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said it plans to screen clips featuring each song, in random order, for voting members of its Music Branch in Los Angeles on 12 January. Following the screenings, members will determine the nominees by an averaged point-system vote. If no song receives an average score of 8.25 or more, there will be no nominees in the category.

read moreNEW DELHI: All India Radio covers 24.55 per cent area of the country through FM broadcasting, a service that is operation in 172 towns and cities. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting S Jagathrakshakan told Parliament on Tuesday that while a total of 251 private FM channels were broadcasting in 26 states and union territories in the country, no study had been carried out about the area they covered. The government had approved schemes for installing AIR FM transmitters at 195 more places during the tenth Five Year plan.
