Shailendra Singh and Nikhil Chinapa saga takes the social route with Nawed Khan

MUMBAI: This was a while ago. Dance music's biggest convention ADE Global Sessions returned to Mumbai for the second time on the 23-25 February 2017. In one of the sessions, Percept Limited’s Managing Director, Shailendra Singh lashed out on Nikhil Chinapa, the man behind another music festival Supersonic.

In an audio recording from ADE Mumbai, he was found almost abusing Nikhil.

Check the recording here -

Chinapa, who used to be a part of Sunburn earlier, after the fallout with Percept, was approached by LIVE Viacom18 to join their festival venture. In 2013, Chinapa gladly relinquished his Sunburn shares and moved on from Sunburn to a new EDM festival, Supersonic.

In reply to Singh's post, Nawed Khan, who is also a resident with Submerge, India’s biggest artist management agency and dance music promoter, on 7 March posted this on his social media account. He said that, though Percept had registered 'Indian International Dance Festival' as the name, Shailendra Singh had no clue about any actual music festival or DJs. Now, that’s a big blow!

Here is the entire post -

“Let me stand by my family of Nikhil Chinapa and Pearl S J Miglani and tell it like it is, this is where it actually started; Percept had registered 'Indian International Dance Festival' as the name, had no clue about any actual music festival or DJs, I still doubt he can identify anyone other than the DJmag top 5. So Nikhil actually curated the entire concept, the ideology, the name and the "scene", dear SS if fronting money can get you a title then the title should be of a businessman, don't try to drag the scene into your shady mess, the scene dear SS is not you, neither is it the ghost producing kin of yours, the scene is the people who stood by the music when there was no money or fame involved and are still rallying behind it for the love of it.”

We couldn’t reach any of them but will surely make an effort to dig more for know Shailendra Singh’s side of the story.
