India will rock and roll with Lesle Lewis's 'Bollywood Badshah'

MUMBAI: Musical genius Lesle Lewis announced his new concert ‘Bollywood Badshah’ at an event here. Savio D'sa, the producer of Karaoke World Championship India was also spotted at the do that happened in TAP Resto Bar in Andheri.

Lewis who pioneered indie pop music in the industry and introduced synthesizer, drums with songs like 'Paree Hu Main', 'Janam Samjha Karo', and 'Bombay Girl, will be reinventing himself yet again with 'Bollywood Badshah'. Not many have seen the 'Beauty and the Beast' music director do much of Bollywood, but his new venture will be about Bollywood."Whether I like it or not, my world is Bollywood. My dad P. L. Raj was a notable dance director during 1960 and 70s Hindi cinema and my mom, my sister they all listen to Bollywood music. There is this Bollywood connect which never fades away,” said Lewis.

The composer further added, “I have been doing things, performing distinctive things over the time. All these years I have been doing this in a studio, which is trouble-free, why not get on the stage and rock it! If I am going to perform 'Dum Maaro Dum', I am going to rock it out."

Lewi's 'Bollywood Badshah' band includes two female singers, a Rajasthani folk singer, and additional five-six band members. "There will be different instruments and diverse styles of singing on my show. All the bits and pieces that I have done in the past say, remixes, recreations, rock and roll, or indi-pop, this live show will be a fine blend of everything. Right now it’s an audio experience and I will lead it to an audio visual experience,” stated Lewis.

Lesle Lewis introduced remixes with Asha Ji’s ‘Piya Tu Ab Toh Aja’, ‘Janam Samjha Karo’, and later on dance music, now EDM with ‘O Mere Sona Rey’, ‘Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein’ that kicked off another trend. His composition ‘Yaaron’ is still all the rage. In 1996, he came up with ‘Colonial Cousins’ which was a Classical fusion with Hariharan which initiated a different musical extravaganza for the audience altogether.

'Bollywood Badshah' will go live on 16 July 2016 in TAP Restro Bar, Mumbai.
