Radio Whiskey - new entrant in internet radio

MUMBAI: Increasing competition in the gradually booming internet radio space, former RBNL business head Madhukar Pandey is all set to launch a new online channel Radio Whiskey. Conceptualised by Pandey, the station will feature a mix of Indian and international music. The startup is in the testing phase and the channel is expected to be launched after a fortnight.

Radio City back with 'Music Mahotsav' season 2

AIR plans to increase FM coverage by 90 per cent

NEW DELHI: To increase the FM coverage to 90 per cent population, All India Radio proposes to set up 385 new FM transmitters across the country under the 12th Plan. However, this is subject to allocation of funds and approval of the Planning Commission, Information and Broadcasting Ministry sources told Radioandmusic.com.This is part of the total AIR coverage of 91.87 per cent area and 99.19 per cent population. At present, AIR FM reaches out to 41.43 per cent population and 29.18 per cent area.

Cheryl Cole's new single debuts at number one on UK charts

MUMBAI:  Singer Cheryl Cole has topped the UK charts with her single ‘Call My Name’. According to the Official Charts Company, the dance number written and produced by Scottish DJ Calvin Harris sold 1, 52,000 copies in its first week, making it the fastest selling single of 2012. ‘Call My Name’, the lead single released from Cole’s latest album ‘A Million Lights’ was the only new entry in the top 20.

Indian rock band Kaav to release debut album tomorrow

MUMBAI: Kochi-based progressive rock band Kaav, who won the 2010 Indiecision Best Indian EP award, is all set to release its debut album ‘Rhapsody Of Rains’ tomorrow in the city. The eight-track album will be released through record label Cochym, both physically and digitally. The label has partnered with digital distributor ‘CD baby’ for worldwide distribution of the album and the singles through Amazon, iTunes, Spotify and others.
