Sony music acquires audio rights of Neethane Enn Ponvasantham

MUMBAI: Sony music has acquired the audio rights of much anticipated Tamil movie ‘Neethane Enn Ponvasantham’ for an altitudinous price of Rs 25 million. Comprising of eight songs, the music is scored by musical maestro Ilayaraja and penned by Na Muthukumar. A 108-piece live symphony orchestral music will be a part of the album, including Budapest symphony orchestra ‘Hungarian National Philharmonic’.

Saregama unveils spiritual album by Kavita Seth

MUMBAI: Saregama recently launched Bollywood and Sufi singer Kavita Seth’s spiritual album ‘Om’. Seth released the album with a live performance and present at the occasion were singer Raageshwari Loomba, music director Kuldeep Singh and ghazal singer Jaswinder Singh amongst others. The meditation album features 108 chants of Om, followed by the shloka "Om Krishnaya Vasudevaya Harayay Parmatmane Pranat Klesh Nashaya, Shri Govindaya Namo Namah". The music of the album has been set to score by Seth’s 16-year-old son Kanishk Seth.

Lady Gaga to unveil new album title in September

Elvis Presley collection agency inks deal with RAL to capture artist royalties

MUMBAI: Fintage House BV, the performance collection agency of Elvis Presley has inked a deal with Rights Agency Ltd (RAL) to capture artist royalties. The companies will combine operations that collect money for recording artists, when their music is played on radio, television and other formats. The financial terms of the deal, which includes cost-sharing on technology upgrades are yet to be disclosed.

Copyright Amendment Act 2012 comes into effect

NEW DELHI: The Copyright (Amendment) Act 2012 passed by Parliament has come into effect declaring authors as owners of the copyright, which cannot be assigned to the producers as was the practice till now. The act has been published in the official gazette. It will now become mandatory for broadcasters - both radio and television - to pay royalty to the owners of the copyright each time a work of art is broadcast. It bans people from bringing out cover versions of any literary, dramatic or musical work for five years from the first recording of the original creation.

My FM elevates Rahul Namjoshi as national corporate sales head

MUMBAI: My FM has announced changes in its management team to address growth in key markets. The station has elevated Rahul Namjoshi to the position of national corporate sales head. In his new role, all non-station market sales teams including Mumbai, South, Delhi and government will report to him with immediate effect. He will continue to report to My FM CEO Harrish Bhatia.
