Sony Mobile Communications to cut 15 per cent of global workforce

MUMBAI: Sony’s cellphone division Sony Mobile Communications is cutting about 1,000 jobs or 15 per cent of its global workforce over the next two years (March 2014) in an effort to reduce costs and boost profits. The company said in a statement that out of the 1,000 job cuts 650 would be from Lund mobile phone plant in Sweden, while the remaining reductions will be primarily consultants in Sweden.

Thrash metal band Slayer to perform in Bangalore

MUMBAI: American thrash metal band Slayer will crash and burn at the annual festival 'Rock 'N India 2012’ on 20 October at Bangalore. The two-time Grammy winner band is a pioneer in the genre and is considered as one of the ‘Big Four’ trash metal acts along with Anthrax, Metallica and Megadeth, since they entered the US charts with their third album Reign of Blood (1986). The band has six Gold (5, 00,000 copies sold) and one platinum album (one million copies sold).
