50 and 60s tracks had more variation than modern pop: report

MUMBAI: The classic tracks from fifties and sixties are stated to be more varied compared to the modern day pop numbers, according to the result of an analysis published in the journal ‘Scientific Reports’. The analysis conducted on half a million pop songs from 1955 to 2010 revealed that the tracks in fifties and sixties had much more variation than modern pop, which is louder, less varied, and uses less chords.

Radio One's Arun Sequeira joins Fountainhead

MUMBAI: Ending his five and half years stint at Radio One, national sales head- retail Arun Sequeira has joined events company Fountainhead as associate director. Today is his last day at Radio One. In his new role, Sequeira will be responsible for the overall south operations along with revenue generation. He will report to Fountainhead managing director Neale Murray. Sequeira had joined Radio One in 2007 as sales head and was then promoted as Associate VP. In April last year, he was elevated as national sales head- retail.

French baritone Laurent Naouri to perform live in India

BBC, TalkSport to share radio rights for FA Cup

MUMBAI: Losing exclusive radio rights over the FA Cup, BBC along with TalkSport has signed a six year agreement with the Football Association (FA) to broadcast live audio commentary of the matches in UK. The announcement of the rights-sharing deal with TalkSport comes after the BBC, in the midst of a cost-cutting process aimed at saving ?700m, said it will have to be ruthless over which sports rights it bids for in the future, and saved millions of pounds by sharing its Formula 1 TV rights with BSkyB.
