Prasar Bharti to prioritize J&K in FM Phase III; FM Channel-2 of Radio Kashmir launched

MUMBAI:  Prasar Bharti Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) plans to set up 10 to 15 new FM stations in Jammu and Kashmir , adding to the 839 new FM stations in private sector across 290 cities of the country as proposed in the highly anticipated FM Phase III. Secretary Union Information Broadcasting Ministry Uday Kumar Verma revealed the plans at the inaugural ceremony of 10 MW FM Channel-2 of the local station of All India Radio popularly known as 'Radio Kashmir’ at Srinagar on 6 October.

Karaoke World Championship 2012 India announces winners

MUMBAI: Sharvari Deshpande (Mumbai) and Faizan Khurshid (Kolkata) will receive the Karaoke World Championship’ (KWC) trophies  and represent India at the world championships to be held in Finland from 27 November-2 December. Despande won the female category with her performance of ‘Tough Lover’ by Christina Aguilera, while Khurshid topped the male category with rendition of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Asha Bhosle's daughter Varsha commits suicide

MUMBAI: Varsha Bhosle, daughter of legendary singer Asha Bhosle committed suicide on Monday afternoon at her residence in Mumbai. As per reports, 56-year-old Bhosle shot herself and was declared dead on the spot before she could be rushed to the hospital. Police has confirmed that it was a suicide with a single shot wound. The main reason for suicide is because of property issues, as per sources.

MUMBAI: After setting a social media record with 25mn followers on twitter earlier this year, paparazzi queen Lady Gaga has set a new social media record by becoming the first person ever to pass 30mn followers on the social networking site. As of Thursday afternoon, she had 30,030,949 followers on the micro-blogging website, and is adding them at the rate of 30,000 a day, according to the Starcount.com website that monitors celebrity use of social media.

MUMBAI: Has renowned composer AR Rahman gone the Bollywood way of suffering from the 'inspiration' bug? As the track for Yash Chopra's 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' song 'Challa' starts circulation, the internet is buzzing with reports that the Rahman composed track sounds suspiciously familiar to 90's pop hit by Swedish artist 'Save Tonight' (from 1997 album 'Desireless'). MUMBAI: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has announced the list of nominees for induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2013. The exhaustive list of 15 artists and bands from various fields of music include rock and hip hop legends like Deep Purple, Rush, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, NWA (Niggaz With Attitude) and Public Enemy. Also nominated are Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The Marvelettes, The Meters, Randy Newman, Donna Summer, Albert King, Heart, Chic, Procol Harum and Kraftwerk, report has said.
