Prasar Bharati gets ABU administrative council seat after 8 years

NEW DELHI: Prasar Bharati has won a Full Member’s seat at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Administrative Council after eight years. The Administrative Council consists of 14 Full and Additional Full members, who are elected by the members of the annual General Assembly for a three-year term. Previous CEOs of Prasar Bharati had been Vice Presidents, until then CEO B S Lalli refused to take the term as VP in Tokyo two years ago. India’s name was proposed by Japan’s public service broadcaster (NHK).

New mom Adele to share experience in next album

MUMBAI: British pop sensation Adele who recently turned new mother plans to write about motherhood and share her experiences in her next album. The 24- year old singer who gave birth to a baby boy with charity boss boyfriend Simon Konecki, 38 said she wanted to write a happy record in contrast to her previous records, which were based on heartache and failed relationships. "I really want to release a happy record now. I have never been happier. I have written some stuff and I will release it when I'm ready," Adele was quoted as saying.

I&B asks private FM channels to check 'vulgar' content

MUMBAI: The Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) has taken umbrage at the manner in which some private FM channels are broadcasting ‘vulgar and objectionable content’ very frequently. The Ministry has also noted that some radio jockeys are 'indecent and offensive' in their presentation of programmes. These jockeys made 'defamatory and derogatory comments, particularly in night hours, which do not appear to be in good taste’.
