'The Archer' Review: See Swift vulnerable and intimate!

MUMBAI: Taylor’s success is on everyone’s mouth with the number of nominations she received at the MTV VMAs. To top this with a cherry, she released a new song- The Archer on 23 August 2019. This song marks another offering from her album- Lover.

Everyone was very enthusiastic about this particular song because this is the fifth track on her album- and every fan knows that Taylor has a special connection with the number five tracks on her albums, as she makes those emotional and personal centrepieces (past examples include White Horse, All Too Well and Delicate). The fans have given a crazy response to this release; however they are all baffled about the video of the song. It was much unexpected that Swift would launch just a lyrical video.

This song has a somewhat strict electronic tone with a little bit of unsmiling genre attached to it.

This song is very beautiful in its own way. It feels honest, exhausted and wounded at the same time. The lyrics revolve around the metaphors attached to an archer. It reflects contradictions (Who could ever leave me darling//But who could stay, I don’t want that// but what if I do?). The lyrics also portray a suspicious state of the mind in a might be happy relationship but areas of old fears not escaping (cause cruelty wins in movies, I search for your dark side, All of my enemies started out friends.)

Taylor fans, the lyrical video is just one click away if you are reading this:

The reaction to the tune’s immediate was: “This is the Taylor we fell in love with. Lyrics. First. Always,” said one top comment underneath the YouTube premiere of the lyrical video.

Ever since the beginning of her career, Taylor has impressed us by bringing the best lyrics, the best tunes and tones clubbed with her vocals. We are all on the edge of our seats for the video of this song to come out.
