Rihanna's 'We Found Love' tops Billboard chart

MUMBAI: Worldwide superstar Rihanna's latest single â€?We Found Love' has topped the   Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the eighth consecutive week. The track is the longest running number one single in Rihanna's career. 'We Found Love' overtook Adele's â€?Rolling in the Deep' which stayed on top for seven week earlier this year. The Island Def Jam's reigning queen has also broken her previous record of top selling singles. Second to Beatles, Rihanna has become the fastest solo artist in 'Billboard Hot 100 history to chart 20 Top 10 hits'.

IRS Q3: Radio sector continues to plummet

MUMBAI: Radio sector continous to decline with every quarter showing negative growth in terms of reach. As per the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) 2011 Q3 data, the total reach of radio has gone down to 158.28 million -- a negative CAGR of 3.9 per cent. In Q2, the total reach for radio was at 161.45 million.

Saga Music acquires audio of '4 2 ka 1'; Unisys obtains digital rights

MUMBAI: Saga Music has acquired the music of Jimmy Shergill starrer movie '4 2 ka 1', while Unisys Infosolutions holds the digital distribution rights. The music of the movie has been composed by JD, Rajan and Abhishek Majumdar.   Singers including Sunidhi Chauhan, Kailash Kher, Kunal Ganjewala, Mika Singh, Javed Ali, Shilpa Rao, and Krishna have rendered for the album. The soundtrack of the movie comprises of six songs with varied themes including Om Jai Jagdish, Sundri, Ishq Di Battiyan, Bhang Ke Nashe, Kitno ka Dil and Give Me a Call.

Nokia leads Indian mobile handset market: Cybermedia report

MUMBAI: In the India mobile handsets market, Nokia has retained leadership position with 30% share in terms of sales (unit shipments), followed by Samsung at second position with 11.6% during the month of September 2011. This was reported in the IndiaMonthlyMobileHandsets Market Review, September 2011 released by CyberMedia Research.

Grammy to honour Steve Jobs

MUMBAI: Apple co-founder Steve Jobs will be posthumously honoured with the Grammy award for his contribution to music technology, The Recording Academy announced yesterday. Jobs, who died on 5 Oct of pancreatic cancer, will receive a Trustees Award. In 2002, he had received the Technical Grammy Award for contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field. Along with Jobs, bandleader and composer Dave Bartholomew, recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder will also receive the Trustees award.
