BMG acquires Montana's catalogue

MUMBAI: German headquartered BMG Rights Management and Montana Musikverlag GmbH & Co. KG announced the acquisition of the master and publishing rights of the legendary German music catalogue.

Montana founder Hans R. Beierlein said, "During my 50 year-spanning career as music and media manager, I had the privilege of supporting and developing many charismatic, talented and renowned artists and songwriters. With great satisfaction I see the results of this work placed in good hands through the collaboration with BMG." Montana was founded by Beierlein in 1959. The catalogue is considered one few iconic German music collections as it comprises over 5000 publishing rights and nearly the same number of master rights of German music ranging from Adamo, Charles Aznavour, Alexandra, Dalida, Rudi Carrell to Heino, Stefanie Hertel and Florian Silbereisen.

Montana CEO Bizzi Nießlein said that it is essential to embrace technical developments and seize the opportunities arising in a global world. Nießlein added, "BMG is an excellent and well-established international partner who will ensure the pro-active exploitation of our diverse song rights in the future. We look forward to supporting them throughout this next step."

BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch said, "The Montana catalogue represents a treasure house of many of the greatest and most popular songs of the past 50 years in the German language. We look forward to supporting Montana’s artists, and to working with Montana, Hans R. Beierlein and Bizzi Nießlein. "
