Ankit Tiwari speaks about his latest track 'Tequila Vequila'

MUMBAI: With 'Sun Raha Hai Tu', Ankit Tiwari has become one of the more sought after singer/ composers today. Since its release, he has been lending his voice for a lot of films. The latest song, 'Tequila Vequila', from the movie 'Samrat and Co', he has moved away from the genre of soft romantic numbers.

Talking about the same, to Radioandmusic.com, Tiwari said, "When is first got an offer from Rajshri Productions, I assumed it would be the kind that they usually do- a soft, romantic track. But I was given a completely different brief, which was an upbeat, dance number. Since I love Latin music, I gave the song similar treatment, using a lot of guitars and trumpets." The vocals of the song are rendered by Tiwari and Shreya Ghoshal.

He admitted that it was not difficult to move away from the genre of romantic songs. "I am a music director, and I need to be comfortable with whatever comes on my platter. I would love to experiment with different genres," explained Tiwari, who is an ardent fan of Ricky Martin and Shakira.

Speaking of his two favourite international artistes he said, "I cannot get over the Ricky Martin era. I love all his songs like 'Un Dos Tres' and 'Maria Maria'. I wish to watch Shakira and Ricky Martin live. I have never ever got the chance to catch the glimpse of these international pop stars."

Tiwari loves juggling between the roles of a composer and a singer. "There are times that the producer wants me to sing a song, and I also work with new singers," he explained. He is currently working on a few projects, which include upcoming movies 'Villain', 'Mr. X' and 'Desi Magic'.
