Dhingana: More and more label companies are approaching us

MUMBAI: Music streaming site Dhingana is looking forward to have premium subscription service Dhingana Gold for the android platform. Apart from this, the company hopes not to add anymore application in any platform but concentrate on having vertical growth across this platform.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Dhingana co-founder and COO Swapnil Shinde said, “We wish to add more value to our existing platforms. We aim to grow across all verticals. Right now, we have grown on to become music steaming leader in India as we have crossed nine million monthly active unique users around the world.” Over 75 per cent of these monthly unique users access Dhingana's 1-million strong song library from their mobiles devices. The company has witnessed 200 per cent growth year-over-year. Dhingana has been downloaded over 6 million times across their leading apps on Android, iOS, Windows 8, BlackBerry, Nokia, Amazon Kindle platforms.

Dhingana Gold is an in-app purchase within Dhingana's free iOS application and costs $1.99 per month in India and $3.99 outside India. With not disclosing anymore details about the same, Shinde said, “Gold app is doing much better than expected. This encouraged us to have the same for android platform.”

Dhingana has partnered with 900 music label companies adding up to millions of songs to their catalogue. “More and more label companies are approaching us so that they can make their content available to the vast users who access Dhingana.”In terms of advertising, Shinde said that this year was the year that they focused on revenue. “We are making revenue through the premium advertising platform. We have worked with leading platforms like Coco Cola, Vodafone, Idea, Kotak Mahindra, Youtube and other partners and then we have subscription model.”

Dhingana is getting 50 per cent traffic from India and then is followed by 30 per cent in United States which is followed by United Kingdom and Canada, Australia and United Arab Emirates. The company had also re-vamped themselves by getting a brand new logo and website to have an international look. About 2.5 million of Dhingana's unique users access it from US and 1 million access it from Europe and UK.

Dhingana offers an extensive library of music across 42 languages and genres, including Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Assamese, Devotional, Ghazals and several others. It also has 50 radio stations and mediation radio station is the recent addition to list of other stations.
