Indian Idol contestants give wings to their dreams

MUMBAI: Sony TV's reality show Indian Idol 5 contestants Sreeram Chandra and Swaroop Khan can see their long-lived dream of playback singing almost fulfilled as both of them have bagged projects from leading composers in Bollywood. Media reports nineteen-year-old Khan, a folk singer from Rajasthan lent his voice to ace composer Bappi Lahiri's upcoming film Emotional Atyachar. The music of the film is composed by Bappi Da and Mangesh Dhaake and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Recording of the song took place at Bappi Da's studio on 24 July.

MUMBAI: All Michael Jackson fans have a reason to smile. According to reports, unreleased set of songs by the deceased legend, produced by Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins would be releasing soon. 32-year old Jerkins had co-written/co-produced several songs from Michael Jackson's last studio album �Invincible', including the hit �You Rock My World'. Jerkins revealed to the media that the album will definitely come out, but will take time as there is a lot of red tape to be worked on.

I&B Ministry announces shuffle in All India Radio

New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Ministry has announced a major reshuffle in its various media units apart from promotion of some officials as approved by the Cabinet Committee on Appointments yesterday. Doordarshan News' director of publications division, Veena Jain, has been shifted as ADG in the news services division of All India Radio while Mohan Chandak has moved from NSD AIR to become the director general in the directorate of field publicity. The post has been vacant since Dipankar Mukhopadhyay retired two months earlier.

Panasonic ropes in Percept for its 'Sound of India' campaign

MUMBAI: After announcing a talent hunt 'Sound Of India' in July, Panasonic, electric goods manufacturer, has now roped in Percept Limited to execute creative & web functions for the campaign. IBD India, Percept out-of-home (POOH) and Percept Knorigin which are divisions of Percept Limited kick started the campaign in July 2010  IBD India has handled the creative duties in terms of print, online and retail design; Percept Out-Of-Home has done the OOH & on ground activation while Percept Knorigin has created the website.

HMV re-launches its online music store

MUMBAI: HMV digital, the high street retailer has re-launched its online music store and is selling top 40 singles for the unbelievable introductory rate of 40p, less than half the price charged by most major rivals. Unlike HMV's old service, the new store carries a catalogue of 10 million songs and will synchronise it with iTunes, leading many to perceive it as a genuine rival to the Apple behemoth. HMV digital is also offering a try-before-you-buy system. It requires registration of an account and the buyer can listen to 30-second clip of song before purchasing it

Popkomm 2010 to be opened by an Indian artist

MUMBAI: The Germany-based music networking website Music2deal.com will be taking an Indian delegation to Popkomm Music Festival 2010, an integral part of the mostly Europe-dominated Berlin Music Week. The delegation will comprise of regional music labels and also of an Indian band, which will open the showcases at Popkomm 2010.
