Industry copyright spat breaks out on Twitter

Third edition of Super Singer announced by Vijay TV

BANGALORE: Star's Tamil offering Vijay TV announced the launch of the third edition of Super Singer titled Airtel Super Singer Season 3. The reality show will be aired Monday to Thursday during the 9 pm  primetime slot starting 12 July. The ground level auditions took place at Chennai where a Vijay TV release claims that thousands of interested and aspiring young singers took part. Those interested could also send their voice recorded on a CD / cassette or could attend the ground audition that is set to take place in the coming weeks at Tiruchy and Coimbatore.

The Beatles give digital release a miss once again

Radio One offers 2 lakhs with Maximum Music, Maximum Money

Panasonic hunts for talent with 'Sound of India'

MUMBAI: Targeting the Tier II and Tier III cities in the country, electric goods manufacturer Panasonic has kick started a campaign titled 'Sound Of India'. The 'Sound for India' caravan and exhibition will invite local talent for on the spot sound creation and recording using a synthesizer. The 70 city tour will culminate its hunt on 10 September and the most interesting sounds, as judged by the jury will be rewarded. The contest campaign, kick started by singer Shibani Kashyap, intends to create a bank of distinctive sounds each of the regions it travels to

Amit Trivedi's Aisha journey

MUMBAI: Music composer Amit Trivedi who earlier scored for off-beat films like Dev D, Aamir and (most recently) Udaan also scored his first mainstream Bollywood film 'Aisha'. The music of this Sonam Kapoor - Abhay Deol starrer was released on the web recently. Amit Trivedi rose to fame with Dev D's Emotional Atyachaar which became an overnight youth anthem after its release. However, Trivedi is a little anxious about the feedback for his first mainstream score. "I am sure the core fans will be a bit disappointed, but I hope they enjoy," he said.

BBC Trust saves axed radio station Music 6

MUMBAI: After months of protests by the listeners and presenters, BBC bosses have finally decided against axing BBC radio station 6 Music. BBC Trust rejected the proposal to slam down the radio station as "a convincing case" had not been made for the shut-down. 6 Music along with the Asian Network were the two stations earmarked for closure as reported in March this year. However revival of Asian Network appeared doomed as the Trust declared a "case for closure" for it.

Sri Adhikari Bros launches music and comedy channel Mastiii

MUMBAI: Sri Adhikari Brothers Ltd (SAB) today officially launched its music and comedy channel Mastiii. The channel will play Bollywood music, mixed with comedy acts by comedians like Raju Srivastava, Sunil Pal, Suresh Menon, Shailesh Lodha, and Kiki Sharda. The 24-hour free-to-air channel will have 75 per cent music and the remaining 25 per cent will be comedy content.
