Playboy sues singer Drake for copyright infringement

MUMBAI: Hip-hop singer Drake is being sued by Playboy Music for an alleged copyright infringement. Bosses at Playboy allege that the rapper's breakthrough hit, Best I Ever Had, samples a 1975 song by Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, owned by Playboy Music  The lawsuit, which includes allegations that have not been proven in court, asks that each defendant account for how much the song has earned in order to seek damages  Drake's debut album, "Thank Me Later," topped the charts in the U.S. and Canada in its first week of release.

Veteran tabla player Chandrakant Kamat bids adieu

MUMBAI: Veteran tabla player Pandit Chandrakant Shantaram Kamat passed away following heart failure at his Pune residence on 28 June 2010  He was 76. According to reports, Kamat returned from his routine morning walk sessions after which he suffered a heart attack   Born on 26 November 1933 at Dhulia, Kamat would often travel with his singer-actor father Shantaram Kamat and act for Sangeet Natak companies. Lata Mangeshkar sings after a long gap

MUMBAI: Lata Mangeshkar's divine voice was last heard in Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail - the music for which was composed by Shamir Tondon. That was a year ago. Now the most sought after singer has agreed to sing for a commercial track in Sunjay Sharma's Dunno Y.. Na Jaane Kyun. And going by the film's name, one assumes it would be something 'hip.' Mangeshkar is believed to have taken a self imposed break from commercial film songs, so it's certainly special when she agrees to sing.

Casual employees in AIR News not paid since Dec 2009

NEW DELHI: Casual employees working in the News Service Division of All India Radio have not been paid their emoluments since December 2009 and also face discrimination and corruption with regard to work and payment. According to some persons employed as correspondents/editors and production assistants, their names have not been forwarded by their section to Prasar Bharati despite notifications issued by the latter.
