MUMBAI : On the heels of their recently released new album 'Night Owls,' The Dollyrots are kicking off November tour dates and have released a lyric video for the song “Hot Mom with the Skinny Pants On”. Hear 'Night Owls' at your favorite streaming platform here: https://orcd.co/nightowls
“Hot Mom With the Skinny Pants On” demonstrates something deeper, namely a yearning for new friendships as an adult, which many people find to be elusive. This is clearly a pop-punk album from a band with a mortgage and a minivan, and they’re not particularly hiding it. Instead, Night Owls celebrates the maturity that the band has achieved and reminds us that growing up is a privilege,” said New Noise Magazine. “Hot Mom with the Skinny Pants On” is a song about trying to find friendship as you get older. Sometimes you spot someone in the wild and think oh, maybe I found one of my people. Skinny pants are not in style according to the internet but when I spot people wearing them, I know there is potential. We probably like the same music, shop at the same places, used to go to the mall as kids. It’s an ode to all my mom friends who help me be a better mom,” – explains singer/bass player Kelly Ogden.
For the new songs the Dollyrots once again enlisted longtime collaborator John Fields (Jimmy Eat World, All Time Low, Meet Me At the Altar) who is responsible for the bulk of production credit. Fields recently sat down with Little Steven's Underground Garage - "Coolest Conversations" to talk about working with the band. The Dollyrots have moved comfortably into adulthood without sacrificing any of their rebellious attitude. “The Dollyrots are a party, they are unapologetically positive and always have been, and in this grim world we live in being a beacon of positivity is not a bad thing, in fact I’d say this nonprescription antidepressant should be compulsory,” – says The Punk Site.
This week the band embarks on the last shows of 2023 as they make plans for their 2024 tour schedule. The Dollyrots are Kelly Ogden (bass and vocals), Luis Cabezas (guitar and vocals), and Simon Hancock as their current touring drummer. Get tickets at: https://www.dollyrots.com/tour.
