Yesudas completes golden jubliee in music

BANGALORE: Popular classical singer Kattassery Joseph Yesudas will complete 50 years in the Indian music industry. Jaathi Bhedam Matha Dwesham (Music: M B Sreenivasan) was the first song recorded on 14 Nov 1961 by Yesudas. Asianet will air an interview of the maestro on Sunday, 20 November at 2pm, hosted by channels business-head John Brittas. On the show, Yesudas will share 50 years of his successful musical journey.

DIFF lifetime achievement honour for AR Rahman

MUMBAI: This year the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) will honour music director AR Rahman with a Lifetime Achievement award. Rahman will receive the award during the 8th DIFF to be held from 7-14 December. Winner of two Academy Awards and two Grammy Awards, the 45 year old Rahman will be the first musician to receive a Lifetime Achievement award at the film festival.

Google launches online music service

MUMBAI: Google has finally launched an online music service. It has launched an Android music store to compete with iTunes and Amazon.com. However, the service is available for Android users in the US only as Google has not done deals with record labels to allow it to sell songs globally. The view in the industry is mixed. Some feel that Google has arrived too late while others feel that competition is always healthy. It will result in services improving.

SRK, Piggy Chops promotes Don 2 on Red FM

MUMBAI: Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani promoted their upcoming movie Don 2 on Red FM with RJ Malishka in Mumbai. Malishka and her team put up a small action sequence which had the RJ beat up a few goons around her. Later, she also grooved to the movie's signature song �Main Hoon Don!' accompanied by King Khan and Piggy Chops themselves.
