I have to do more good work: Jyotica Tangri on winning an award

MUMBAI: Bollywood’s playback singer Jyotica Tangri is currently on cloud nine as she received the Best Playback Singer award at Zee Cine Awards 2018. The singer’s debut song Pallo Latke from Shaadi Main Zaroor Aana was a big hit and it’s now getting Jyotica some appreciation.

“This is a very big thing for me, I am super happy. This was my debut song in Bollywood and I got an award within few months. I had dreamt of winning an award of course, but not so soon. I always wanted to be a playback singer since childhood and now I am the best playback singer,” Jyotica shared her joy on winning the award.

The singer has won a joint award with Nitika Gandhi who won for Raabta. The other nominations for the award were Shreya Ghoshal – Thodi Der, Sunidhi Chauhan- Radha, Shashaa Tirupati – Kanha, Meghna Mishra – Secret Superstar.

“I had never thought to be nominated with big singers like these. Sunidhi and Shreya have been my idol. I have learned a lot from their singing and being nominated in the same league and also receiving the award is a big achievement for me,” said the winner.

“I really love Nikita Gandhi’s voice. I am honoured to have shared this award with her,” she added.

Winning an award is not the end. It brings along responsibilities and this is exactly what Jyotica is feeling at the moment. “Now that I have won this award I have a huge responsibility. I have to sing good songs for my fans. I am sure now people will be curious about my new song,” stated the singer.

Going back to those recording days which are fresh in Jyotica’s mind, she shares her experience of being behind the microphone for her first Bollywood song. She said, “Anurag Bedi, the head of Zee Music Company called me to sing this song. I went to the studio – recorded one version. Then the programming of the song happened, followed by the final recording in Yash Raj Studio. This was my first recording at Yash Raj Studio which was a dream come true. It is such a big studio, I felt like the arrangements are made just for my recording and the song was recorded in an hour.”

Pallo Latke was a re-created version of a Marwadi folk song. According to the singer, the song gives a feel of celebration which struck the minds and hearts of the audience. She believes it is a great teamwork with amazing music and innovative lyrics that made the song popular.

Focusing more on independent music, the singer has plans of releasing singles in the New Year. Along with Bollywood projects, she will be seen collaborating with different artists on new concepts.

“I will be releasing one single this month, titled Tere Bina. The single is sung by me and Sushant who has also composed the music. Lyrics are by Jaani, and it will be released under Times Music. This is a Punjabi love story with a happy ending. I am working on another single with Raghav Sachar which will release in February under Zee Music Company,” said Jyotica.

“After the award, I am much more charged up, so I don’t want to stop at any moment. My motive is if my audience is listening to my songs, I should keep giving them more and more good songs,” ended the enthusiastic singer.
