Indore gets CR station for teachers
NEW DELHI: The Central India Institute of Science and Technology in Indore has been permitted to operate a community radio station with the information and Broadcasting Ministry signing a Grant of Permission Agreement.
With this, the number of CRs in the country has gone up to 67. The Letter of Intent had been issued to the Institute after recommendations of the Inter Ministerial Committee and seeking requisite clearances from various Ministries, and the CR station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement.
Fever rises in Delhi
MUMBAI: In a week when most stations maintained their status quo, and Mirchi and Big kept snapping at each other's heels in Bangalore and Kolkata respectively, it was Fever that inched up towards number one position in the capital.
Not that Mirchi which lost a bit in week nine, according to RAM data, is about to give up its leadership position in any of the three metros it rules, easily. Despite slipping slightly in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, Mirchi continues to rule the roost in three of the four metros that RAM monitors.
Uttarakhand gets first community radio
MUMBAI: Uttarakhand's first community radio which will cater to 15 villages was today inauguarted by Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva.
The 'Kumaon Vani', which has been set up by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) will benfit nearly 2000 villagers, according to agency report.
Alva said the community radio would prove to be effective medium of communication for the people of Uttarakhand and also play an important role in women empowerment.
First community radio for visually handicapped
NEW DELHI: With the grant of permission to the National Institute for Visually Handicapped in Dehradun to start its own radio station, the number of Community Radio Stations has gone up to 66 in the country.
The first CRS being set up specifically for the visually handicapped, the station is expected to be operational within three months. Tamil Nadu gets one more CR station
NEW DELHI: The number of sanctioned community radio stations has risen to 65 with the government permitting the M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering in District Karur of Tamil Nadu to operate a station.

MUMBAI: A community radio station will soon come up at The Energy Resources Institute..., Disttt. Mukteshwar, Uttaranchal.
The Letter of Intent had been issued to the Institute after recommendations of Inter Ministerial Committee (IMC). The Community Radio Station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement. With this, the number of CRS will increase to 64 in the country.
Fever inches up in Bangalore, Delhi
MUMBAI: While leader Radio Mirchi slipped in three metros' market shares in week 7 - Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, it registered a minor climb in Bangalore, where it lags behind leader Big FM.
However, it was Fever that maintained its market share in Mumbai, and even though it slipped marginally in Kolkata, it recorded slight increases in both Bangalore and Delhi.
Big FM widens lead margin in Bangalore
MUMBAI: While Mirchi strengthened its lead positions in Kolkata and Delhi, Big FM consolidated its lead position in Bangalore. Mumbai however stayed more or less the same as it has been for the last few weeks.
Radio City gains traction in Mumbai
MUMBAI: Radio City moved threateningly towards the number two position in Mumbai in week five according to RAM data, even as Red FM too clung on its post just a little behind leader Mirchi.
Elsewhere, Mirchi slipped in Bangalore and Delhi, but managed to move up slightly in Kolkata, where Big FM continues to snap at its heels.
