Panasonic launches its new KitKat smart-phone Eluga U

MUMBAI: Earlier today in New Delhi, Panasonic launched its new smart-phone, Panasonic Eluga U. The device is priced at Rs. 18, 990.

The Panasonic Eluga U features a 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixels HD IPS OGS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU coupled with 2GB RAM and it runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS.

Not being a slim device, the Eluga U comes with a 7.95 mm thick unibody design and weighs 141 grams. Apart from that there is a large 16GB internal memory which can be further expanded up to 32GB via MicroSD card. The mobile connectivity options include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and it is a dual SIM phone and comes packed with a 2500 mAh battery.

"We will launch 15 smart-phones and eight feature phones this year and we believe there is still an audience for that, but the focus definitely is on smart-phones," said Panasonic India Managing Director Manish Sharma. Sharma further added that the company would launch devices across ranging between Rs 16,500 to Rs 20,000.

Sharma also said that the company was looking at aggressively expanding its portfolio in the country to take its market share to 5 percent in the next one year. The company claims to have about three per cent share currently.
