Rakesh and Friends (RAF) a Classical Fusion concert in Mumbai

MUMBAI: On 25 October 2013 music connoisseurs from Mumbai will have a unique experience of listening to an energetic musical evening titled “RAF (Rakesh and Friends), a young group of extremely talented musicians namely the versatile Rakesh Chaurasia (Flute), dynamic Gino Banks (Drums), powerful Satyajit Talwalkar (Tabla), electrifying Sheldon D’Silva (Bass Guitar) and sparkling Sangeet Haldipur (Key Board). RAF’s first ever concert, led by Rakesh Chaurasia, will be held at Nehru Centre, Worli at 7.30 p.m. on Friday, 25th October 2013.

The event is organized by the EVENT COMPANY and Ginger PR, and is sponsored by IDBI, Godrej, Union Bank of India, and UTI Mutual Fund.

The group effectively blends Indian Classical Music with Global Music to create musical sound seldom heard. The disciple and nephew of Flute Maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Rakesh has undoubtedly made his mark, as one of the finest young flute virtuosos. Rakesh brought about the initiative of extending the boundaries of his musical realm. He combined his understanding of diverse Indian musical gharana styles with world music styles, through imaginative experiments.

Rakesh Chaurasia quotes “Music is meant to touch the soul of the listener and the driving force is to aspire to maintain a fine harmony between tradition and modernity that is in sync with the sensibilities of a global audience.”

The EVENT COMPANY and Ginger PR organizers of Rakesh and Friends (RAF) feel that Classical Music has a niche audience. Moreover, the recent trend shows that listeners are equally keen to hear the younger talents and therefore, they are happy to provide a befitting platform to this concert.

Tickets for the concert are priced at Rs. 500/-, 300/- , 200/- and will be available from 16th October, 2013 at Nehru Centre.
