MUMBAI: The team behind 'Rock On 2' has denied claims by Khasi musician late E Brektist R Wanswett's family that the song 'Hoi Kiw (Chalo Chalo)' in the film is a copied version of the legendary musicians renowned folk tune.

The team has not just denied the allegation, but also expressed abundant distrust at the timing of the allegation when the film is already out.

Actor-producer Farhan Akhtar said, "It's a song by the band Summersalt. They've given us the rights to use it. Where is the question of plagiarism?"

Adds Farhan's production friend and partner Ritesh Sidhwani: "The song is owned and officially licensed by Summersalt to us. They are a local band and have been duly credited."

Shankar Mahadevan, who has composed the music of 'Rock On 2' with Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendosa, said, "The song is composed by the band Summersalt. And it is sung in their own language. We have given them credit for it."

Even the film's director Shujaat Saudagar sees this attempt to muscle into the copyright territory as nothing but mischief.

"It's a Khasi folk song and the band Summersalt have done their own rendition of it. There is nothing to copy in it," said Shujaat Saudagar
