Dhamaal posts revenues of Rs 6.43 mn for Q1 '10

MUMBAI: The radio network Dhamaal of BAG Films, has posted revenue of Rs 6.43 million as against Rs 5.58 million in Q1 previous year, a rise of 15.35 per cent. Radio Dhamaal is currently operational in nine stations across India. The one station it is due to launch in Shimla, is likely to go on air soon. The radio venture has  managed to cut down losses from Rs 12.7 million (quarter ended June 2008) to Rs 6.78 million for quarter ended June 2009. Reason for reduction in losses might be attributed to cut down on operational expenses.

ENIL MD A P Parigi steps down

MUMBAI: A P Parigi has decided to step down from the post of managing director of ENIL. While the Board of Directors of Entertainment Network (India) Limited has accepted Parigi's decision, he will serve as MD of ENIL up to 30 September 2009. He has however accepted the Board's request to continue to be associated with the Company as a Non Executive Director.

IMI launches anti-piracy MMX initiative in Punjab

MUMBAI: The Indian Music Industry (IMI) will be launching the Music Mobile Exchange (MMX), an initiative to curb mobile piracy in Punjab from 1 August. The initiative kick started in Andhra Pradesh May this year is now being carried to parts of Punjab. Says IMI Secretary General Savio D'Souza, The music culture in Punjab is flourishing and so IMI thought of launching the MMX concept in Punjab.... The initiative will be targeted in four places in Punjab namely- Chandigarh, Bhatinda, Amritsar and Jalandar.

Mixed Q1 results for Sony Music

MUMBAI: Sony Music saw a year-on-year increase in sales in its first financial quarter – although only because of its acquisition of Bertelsmann's 50 per cent stake in Sony BMG. Sony Corp. posted net income of 23.3 billion yen ($215 million) on sales of 1.6 trillion yen ($14.9 billion) in its fiscal first quarter, which ended June 30, 2009. The major reported sales of $638m (?385m) for the quarter to June 30, an increase on last year. However, on a pro-forma basis, this represents a 19 per cent fall in sales.

Spice Mobiles Net Profit jumps 18 times in Q1 June 2009, turnover up by 43% at 182 Crs

MUMBAI: Spice Mobiles further consolidated its position during the quarter ended June 2009. The company observed 43% growth in the turnover and the profit before tax went up by 45 times whereas the profit after tax increased by 18 times since the corresponding quarter of last year. MySpace introduces video making widget for users
