My FM bags popular Laadli Media Award

MUMBAI: MY FM, the largest Radio Network of Tier II and III cities recently won the the Laadli Media and Advertising Awards in Gender Sensitivity category. The campaign was run on Womens Day last year.

Population First, announced the winners of the nine Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2017. The awards were presented by Mr. P. Sainath, a renowned Development journalist and Magsaysay Award winner along with other leaders from media and development sectors.

MY FM ran a campaign on no womens day. The campaign raised an issue on how could one celebrate Womens Day when our day to day language is abounding with abuses involving women and gloating over them in red light areas.  The campaign tried to bring alive the issue that one cannot have a happy womens day till we address the inherent misogyny in our society.

Speaking on the initiative, MY FM Business Head Mr Rahul Namjoshi said, “This is our third Laadli award, it feels great and we hope to continue on working towards more such campaigns and spread a message over different social issues through our medium to the masses.”

Speaking on the initiative, MY FM National Programming Head Mr Vinay Manek said, “MY FM has always been on the forefront in highlighting, sensitizing the society and also sincerely attempting in solving certain issues that plague our society and the cities we are operational in. This was one such attempt, extremely insightful it managed to convey the message of prevailing misogyny in our society so effectively and we are glad that it was able to touch people. Ladli Award being conferred upon this creative is indeed the cherry!”

It was a difficult task for the jury to choose the best one from the 1500 + media entries received.  The jury comprising of members of the media, academia and social activists, selected 82 winners from 1500 + entries received from across the country.

The Laadli Media and Advertising Awards was instituted in March 2007. It acknowledges highlights and celebrates the commendable efforts undertaken by Print and Electronic media and Advertising Agencies, to promote gender sensitivity as an integral part of their work.
