Midem head Bruno Crolot departs; JÚr¶me Delhaye takes over

MUMBAI: After four years as director of music markets at Reed Midem, Bruno Crolot, has decided to move ahead. From 27 July 2015, Jérôme Delhaye, current director of the Reed Midem Entertainment Division, will take over Crolot’s responsibility.

Crolot was heading Reed Midem's portfolio of music events including Midem- the international music tradeshow and conference. He looked after Reed Midem's contribution to the inaugural US-based ‘Rethink Music’ conference, and the music content of the ‘Connected Creativity Forum’ for the entertainment and technology industries.

Prior to joining Reed Midem, Crolot was with Sony Music Entertainment France as digital sales and business development VP. He replaced former Midem director, Dominique Leguern, in 2011.

Crolot has held various roles in senior management, business development, marketing and strategy, while working in his previous companies - Orange France Telecom, Noos and Universal Music France. He completed his business management degree from Universite Paris 9 Dauphine.

Crolot termed his journey with Reed Midem as “an incredible journey, a true adventure and very intense.”

Sources indicate that the company is looking at ways at making Midem - which was once the leading global music industry annual confab but has since seen a drop in attendance - more relevant in a digital-focused music ecosystem.

"While Bruno took bold steps to turn around Midem by bringing in more live performances, and a technology, streaming and financial focus, changing the date to a summer one this year, Reed Midem will have to rethink Midem and take even stronger measures to change its very fabric," says a long time attendee from a major Indian music label. "What's heartening is that this year's Midem was very good for us. It was smaller, but it was more productive. The Reed Midem management needs to keep the faith and persist with it. Midem has pedigree and a reputation which will see it through.Just improve on the work that Bruno has commenced."

The next edition of Midem is expected to take place from 28 June to 1 July 2016 at Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France.
