Harshdeep Kaur released her Punjabi single 'Jutti Kasuri'

MUMBAI: Blessed with a mesmerising voice, Harshdeep Kaur is mostly renowned for her Sufi tracks. However, the ‘Heer’ singer has taken a completely different route with her latest track. Kaur recently released the single ‘Jutti Kasuri’, which is an old Punjabi song, originally sung by Surinder Kaur.

“I actually love the song so much because it had stayed with me since my childhood. The melody, the lyrics, everything is just so good about the song that I thought I would put it out as a single,” said Kaur. She revealed that it did not take her much long to record the song, and she managed to shoot the video within a day. The cinematography of the video was done by her brother in law Jagmeet Bal.

Speaking on her upcoming projects, the ‘UFF’ singer said, “I am not working on an album as gone are the days when people bought music, so in the next few months, I plan to work on a few singles, release the videos and then promote them well. That is the only way that I think independent music will be promoted.”

Kaur explained that she takes utmost care that the melody and the lyrics are appropriate. “While crooning for Bollywood songs, I do not have much control over the melody as the director is well versed with the script. There are times that we change lyrics though,” she opined. Kaur does not have any expectations for the single, but she said that she has been getting great responses for it.

She recently appeared on MTV Coke Studio where she collaborated with Amit Trivedi and Jyoti Noorani for the track ‘Teriyaan Tu Jaane’.
