Zee to pull down shutters on radio biz in UK

MUMBAI: Zee is pulling down the shutters on its radio business after a year's presence in the UK market. Hit by recession and deciding to focus on the group's core television business, a senior company executive said Zee Radio would cease broadcasting from 30 April. "We wanted a 24-hour radio station on air. We thought we would get the licence in a year's time. That didn't happen. Zee Radio would stop transmission from 30 April," Zee Network UK and Europe head Govind Shahi told Indiantelevision.com in a telephonic conversation from London.

BBC commissions India Election Train to cover polls

MUMBAI: The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has launched a unique multiplatform, multilingual initiative, the �India Election Train' to cover news on the go during the run-up to the country's General Elections in May. Working with the Indian Railways, reporters from the BBC's Global News division will travel through India by train, investigating what Indians want from their General Election and the key themes surrounding it from 25 April until 13 May.

Guwahati music society to launch on 12 April

MUMBAI: The Guwahati based Rockarolla Music Society will be formally launched with an international concert in Guwahati on 12 April. The highlight of the show would be performances by harmonica virtuoso Jia-Yi He, and Abiogenesis, the only experimental Indian rock band to be nominated for the Grammy Awards. The show would also feature Strange Frequency, a unique musical concept from Shillong.

'Indian Matters' to air on Radio Spice in UAE

MUMBAI: The Indian consulate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched a weekly radio show Indian Matters in a bid to expand the brand recall value of the country. The one-hour show will be aired on Radio Spice 105.4 FM every Saturday at 6 pm. Apart from music, contests and news, the new property's programming lineup will also focus on India-UAE relations and trade and tourism in India.
