Aishwarya Natarajan wins British Council's Music Award

MUMBAI: British Council has announced Aishwarya Natarajan as the winner of the Young Creative Entrepreneur Music Award 2011. Natarajan, who owns Indianuance, an artist management and concert-programming outfit dedicated to Indian classical music,  is the first woman and first Indian classical music entrepreneur to win the award.

Apache Indian previews new album on Radio City

MUMBAI: Reggae artist Apache Indian gave listeners of Radio City and PlanetRadiocity.com a preview of some of the songs from his forthcoming album, Music Is Freedom. The popular reggae-pop-rap-bhangra artiste, who completed a 27-cpountry tour last year, performed for PlanetRadiocity web radio listeners and listeners of Radio City's evening show, Taka Tak Mumbai. Apache Indian is touring India with his band, The Reggae Revolution, for the first time, and is scheduled to cover Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Pune in his tour which began on 25 February 2011 in Mumbai

Spice Digital inks deal with PPL for Voice-based music streaming services

MUMBAI: Spice Digital has inked an exclusive arrangement with PPL for Voice-based Music Streaming Services. This is a long-term, exclusive agreement for India's top three private mobile operators. Spice started Music streaming services four years ago, and today has made it the second largest VAS service for most operators. This milestone has been achieved six years after Mercury Music Group/Def Jam first launched her career in UK. The label has released each of her five albums, starting with 2005's Music of the Sun followed by four multi-platinum albums including the 6x Platinum 2007 release Good Girl Gone Bad.
