Radio Misty Sikkim 95 FM completes Two Years

Radio Misty Sikkim 95 FM the first and only 24x7 FM station of Sikkim has completed two years. The station, with its baseline of �local people local voice local choice and local station' has been promoting local talents on air. Radio Misty Sikkim started its celebration week with a two-hour special show in which the entire team performed live. Listeners visited the Misty studio at Gangtok to cut the celebration cake at midnight. Misty studios and office was full of flowers and gifts from listeners.

SIMCA petitions Madras HC to scrap Copyright Board

* Union of India to file counter within three weeks. CHENNAI: The South Indian Music Companies Association represented by its secretary, J. Swaminathan, has filed a writ petition challenging provisions of the Copyright Act. The writ seeks a direction from the court to declare sections 11 and 12 of the Copyright Act, 1957, and rule 3 of the Copyright Rules, 1958, as ultra vires of Articles 14, 19(1)(g), 21, 50, 245, and 300-A of the Constitution of India,  reports lawetalnews.com.

Ranjit Barot, Sridhar Parthasarathy perform at World Economic Forum, Davos

MUMBAI: Distinguished percussionist Ranjit Barot along with Sridhar Parthasarathy performed at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Saturday, the 29th of January. The duo performed at an India-centric weekend gala called â€?India Inclusive,' at the Swiss ski resort. They presented a composition inspired by three ragas  -- Desh, Charukeshi and Yog -- to showcase the millennia-old musical legacy of India and its relationship with the West. The eight-minute symphony followed by a five-minute interlude was rooted in Indian classical music.
