Mathur appointed additional secretary I&B

MUMBAI: Senior IAS officer JS Mathur has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B). Mathur will succeed Rajiv Takru, who was transferred in August to the Health and Family Welfare Ministry as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the assignment of Mathur, an official release said.

Apple announces major changes in mgmt team

MUMBAI: Tech giant Apple has announced major changes in its management team with senior vice-president of Apple's mobile operating system, iOS, Scott Forstall set to exit the company in 2013. Until his farewell, Forstall will act as advisor to CEO Tim Cook. Stated as the man behind Apple’s landmark devices iPhone and iPad, Forstall was considered as a favourite to replace Steve Jobs as the CEO after the latter’s demise last October.

'Jab Tak hai Jaan' incomplete song called off

MUMBAI: With the sudden demise of movie mogul Yash Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan has confirmed that the shooting for the incomplete song in his upcoming film ‘Jab Tak hai Jaan’ has been called off. A portion of the song in Chopra’s last directorial venture was scheduled to be shot in the picturesque locales of Switzerland, also stated to be as the late mogul’s favourite location. But with the film crew not willing to interfere with the signature style of the late filmmaker, the unit has cancelled the shooting of the last song of the movie.

Taylor Swift to co-host Grammy nominations

MUMBAI: Country-pop artist Taylor Swift is all set to co-host the Grammy nominations this year to be telecast live on 5 December from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. The 22 year-old star will share the stage with rapper-actor LL Cool J to announce the nominees in some major categories. The one- hour telecast will also feature performances by country artist Luke Bryan and pop-rockers Maroon 5.

Eminem to release eighth solo album by 2013

MUMBAI: After striking success with his 2010 release ‘Recovery’, Marshall Bruce Mathers III aka Eminem has officially announced the release of his eighth solo album by next year. The Slim Shady has leaked details of his new album via a commemorative baseball cap sold on his website online store. The cap features lists of landmark dates for the artist's past solo records on its side panel. The ‘Not Afraid’ hit maker did not mention any specifics such as title or release date.

Bolivian radio journalist set on fire

MUMBAI: A Bolivian radio journalist Fernando Vidal was attacked and set on fire while he was conducting his show at Radio Popular in the city of Yacuiba. According to a report by a leading agency, four masked assailants broke into the studio, poured petrol over Vidal and set him alight. Relatives said he had been reporting on smuggling in the border area when the attack happened.

NH7 Weekender Pune band hunt concludes

MUMBAI: Its destination Amanora Park, Pune, for city based pop- rock band Modern Mafia who has won the bindass Rest Less band hunt’ for the upcoming third Bacardi NH7 Weekender that will be held from 2-4 November. A total of 60 bands will play across six stages at the three-day music fest. The competition saw over 50 bands from Mumbai and Pune applying and four acts- Drawing Short Straws, The Fringe, The Riot peddlers and Modern Mafia- making it to the finals. SaReGaMaPa embroils into legal tussle

MUMBAI: Himani Kapoor who was reportedly furious on the singing reality series SaReGaMaPa for non-payment of her remuneration has taken the matter in the court. Kapoor - the third runner up of SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005 season has claimed that the producers owe her more than Rs 20 mn. The producers who were in a dilemma due to the standstill of the show had contacted the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) members for a discussion but seems like they have failed to come up with a concrete solution, as the case has been landed up in court for mutual understanding.
