Resul's family members elated at Oscar win

MUMBAI: There is a palpable jubilant air at Resul Pookutty's residence in Goregaon in suburban Mumbai as excited cheers of Jai Ho... resound in the air since Monday morning. Buzzing with family members, neighbours and well-wishers, the excitement level at the Pookutty household was apparent as he has become the first Keralite to win an Oscar ever.

Wishes flow in for Sridhar's family

MUMBAI: Audio engineer H Sridhar has had a great part in the success of A R Rahman. Sridhar, who passed away on 1 December 2008 of a cardiac arrest, was the chief sound engineer for almost all of Rahman's films and also created the final copy of Slumdog Millionaire.

DW eyes FM switch, wider audience in Bangladesh

MUMBAI: Germany's Deutsche Welle will soon switch to FM in its pursuit of a bigger Bangladesh market share as short wave broadcast increasingly becomes a thing of the past, says a Bangladesh online newspaper. "The number of short wave listener is falling," Grahame Lucas, who leads the South Asia team at Deutsche Welle Radio, told bdnews24.com. bdnews24.com and DW Radio last year joined forces to deliver real-time news to a wider segment of readers both at home and abroad.

Agnee tries interactive innovation with new song

MUMBAI: A R Rahman capped his winning streak for Slumdog Millionaire by winning the Best original score and Best Song Oscar awards minutes earlier. Shortly before that, Resul Pookutty became the first Indian to get the Oscar for Best Sound Mixing for the same film, Slumdog Millionaire.

Resul pockets Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire

MUMBAI: Resul Pookutty became the first Indian to get an Oscar for sound mixing for a film. Pookutty, who was nominated for Slumdog Millionaire along with Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke, was at a loss for words when he ascended the dais to accept the award. "This is unbelievable. I dedicate this award to my country. This is not just an award, it's history being handed down to me," said the 36 year old sound engineer, who has already won a CAS award and a Bafta earlier this year for Slumdog.
