Big FM's UP stations 'Anti-Terror' Signature Campaign

MUMBAI: Beginning its initiative with Republic Day, BIG 92.7 FM captured the spirit of patriotism and launched a â€?Signature Campaign' across its stations of Agra, Aligarh and Bareily for local populace to showcase their patriotism and salute the spirit of being Indian. Conceptualized to raise voices against â€?Terrorism, the campaign promises to reach across the cities and provide a platform for the people to share their voices and sentiments. Copyright Board gives radio players time till March

MUMBAI: The Copyright Board has given radio stations time till 31 March 2009 to file evidence and supporting documents, on the issue of music royalties. The Copyright Board will begin hearings on the issue in May this year, after the music licensing bodies file their replies to the evidence filed by the radio operators.

Pandit Jasraj turns 80

MUMBAI: Pandit Jasraj, renowned Indian classical vocalist and the foremost exponent of the Mewati Gharana turned 80 on Wednesday. Jasraj is credited for mesmerising his audience with Indian classical tunes and taking 'Hindustani sangeet' to the highest level. Jasraj was born to Pandit Motiramji, a classical exponent, in Hissar, Haryana to a musical family. His family is well known for singing in the Mewati Gharana style.

Nokia India ties up with HCL for Ovi services

MUMBAI: Nokia has tied up with an Indian vendor, HCL Infosystems, to offer mobile value-added services such as navigation, music and other entertainment to Indian consumers, say reports. The services are likely to be offered under the Ovi brand that Nokia uses for its online services, the report quotes a Nokia India spokeswoman as saying. HCL and Nokia are setting up a joint venture, subject to customary regulatory approvals, that is expected to take off later this year, the two companies said Wednesday.
