Organised by the Dagar Brothers Memorial Trust in collaboration with India International Centre, the evening of musical homage on 7 February will feature Abhijeet Sukhdane, the first professional dhrupad singer from Gwalior.

The Trust was formed in 1990 and is dedicated to displaying the richness and diversity of classical music. Over the years, legendary greats like Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Balamurli Krishna and also budding artistes like sitar prodigy child young Master Mehtab Ali Khan have performed.

Dagar Brothers Memorial Trust has created a stage for advanced students and young performers in dhrupad style.

Gwalior is the city of Mansingh Tomar and Tansen Miyan whose names are forever attached to dhrupad. Abhijeet discovered dhrupad through a concert of Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar and learnt from him until the latter’s demise in 2013. Abhijeet is wholly dedicated to performing and teaching dhrupad and is the Director of the Dhrupad Kendra in Gwalior.

Padma Shri Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar, son and disciple of Ustad N Faiyazuddin Dagar will then render his musical tribute, accompanied by the renowned Pandit Mohan Shyam Sharma.
