Universal Music presents Punjabi MC New album 'Indian Timing'

MUMBAI: Rajinder Singh Rai gained his stage moniker from the first fans who called him an Indian MC. Misty launches in Gangtok

MUMBAI: The PCM Group's Radio Misty launched its Sikkim station at Gangtok on 31 January. With this launch, the group now has two FM stations, Siliguri being the first one. Radio Misty Sikkim 95 FM is the first 24X7 FM station of Sikkim, claims the company. Radio Misty Sikkim will play a blend of popular Hindi music, English music along with local songs, pops, fusion, remixes, retro music and international music. The focus will be on promoting local music.

Pix to telecast Bafta awards live

MUMBAI: Sony Pix has bagged the India telecast rights of the BAFTA Awards 2009, to be held on 9 February at the Royal Opera House in London at 5.30 am. The live telecast will be followed by the repeat telecast at 10 pm on the same day  Pix has slated the Bafta movie-marathon from 1 - 9 February, in which Bafta award winning movies from the previous years like The Silence of the Lambs, Big Fish, East is East, When Harry Met Sally, Philadelphia, Trauma, Chicago, Close Encounter of the Third Kind and The Queen will be aired.

Bappi Da and the Slum Stars!

[V]'s Launchpad breeds music with melodrama

MUMBAI: Going a step forward, the Channel [V] Launchpad season III has introduced a new element in their band hunt concept. Seven shortlisted bands entered  a ' House of Rock' on Saturday, where they will be put up for the next 10 days for some gruelling sessions and tasks that started from 31 January 2009. The elmination were due to begin on the first day itself, with one band scheduled to get ousted from the house based on a task performance.

Bhupen Hazarika bestowed the first 'Asom Ratna'

Big FM records Rs 490 mn income for Q3

MUMBAI: Big FM recorded a total income of Rs 490 million for the quarter ended 31  December 2008. Adlabs Films Limited, a member of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group and the leading entertainment conglomerate in the country, announced its results for the quarter ended December 31st 2008, recording revenues of Rs 1630 million for quarter ending December, up by 61 per cent. The proposal to demerge the company's FM radio business with effect from 1 April 2008; was approved at a meeting of the Equity shareholders of Adlabs Films held on 22 January.
