Shruti Hassan wins 'Best New Vocalist Award'

MUMBAI: Singer turned actor Shruti Hassan has been awarded the �Best New Vocalist Award' by the Tamil Music Award industry for the film �Vaaranam Aayiram'. Shruti, who debuts in Bollywood soon with her forthcoming film �Luck', has also crooned its title track �Aazma Luck'. There will also be a special video featured on her, the promos of which will be hit the airwaves soon.

Radio Misty Sikkim partners with TNA soccer tournament

MUMBAI: Radio Misty Sikkim 95 FM, the first and only 24x7 fm station of Sikkim have partnered with Tna Alumni Association for Invitation soccer tournament at Gangtok. This tournament will start from 28th July and will conclude on 2nd august. Tashi Namgyal Academy (TNA) is the only public school in this region and probably one of the couple of schools affiliated to the ipsc in the entire north east. This is the school where Indian football team captain Baichung Bhutia has studied. Tashi Namgyal Academy was founded in 1926 by the late Sir Tashi Namgyal.

195 AIR substations to come up in 11th Five Year Plan

MUMBAI: 195 All India Radio Sub-Stations will be set up in the country during the 11th  Five Year Plan  50 new sub-stations will be set up in 18 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

Eric Clapton's tribute band performs this weekend in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Maybe major international touring acts do not have India in their touring schedule, but tribute acts seem to be giving the music hungry audience a taste of some real acts. In March, Mumbai got to see all-female American tribute band Lez Zeppelin and now, the city gears up for Eric Clapton's tribute band 'After Midnight' scehduled to preform on 17 July 2009.
